Some 2006 – 2008 model year GS/IS customers may complain of a rattle noise coming from the rear of the vehicle when driving over bumps. If this condition occurs, adjust the parking brake cables to reduce the parking brake shoe free play. Follow the procedure below to address customer concerns.

The noise can be duplicated when lightly accelerating and then decelerating, or when depressing the brake pedal with the shift lever in Park and then releasing brake pedal. An updated vacuum check valve is now available to reduce this noise.

The engine can usually be started after moving the shift lever to the Neutral position or by cycling the shift lever in and out of the Park position. A revised neutral start switch assembly is available to address this condition.
