The load carrying capacity modification label may indicate less weight than the actual total weight of accessories installed on the vehicle. As such , these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, “Tire Selection and Rims.” An incorrect label may lead to unintentionally overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. (GST) filed a Noncompliance Information Report (NCIR) with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) informing the agency of our intent to conduct a voluntary Noncompliance Recall on certain 2023 Model Year Tundra vehicles. Condition Gulf States Toyota, Inc. (GST) is recalling certain 2023 Tundra pickup trucks equipped with non-skid sprayon bed liners. The load carrying capacity modification label may indicate less weight than the actual total weight of accessories installed on the vehicle. New Vehicles in Dealership Inventory As of November 21, 2022, GST identified four new vehicles in dealership inventory that are covered by this Noncompliance Recall. Below is reminder of the dealer’s obligations pertaining to Recalls if there are new vehicles in dealership inventory: Under Title 49, Section 30112 of the United States Code, a dealer cannot sell, offer for sale, or introduce or deliver for introduction in interstate commerce a new motor vehicle when it is aware that the vehicle does not comply with an applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard or contains a defect related to motor vehicle safety. In addition, 49 Code of Federal Regulations §577.13 requires us to provide the following advisory: It is a violation of Federal law for a dealer to deliver a new motor vehicle or any new or used item of motor vehicle equipment (including a tire) covered by this notification under a sale or lease until the defect or noncompliance is remedied. Inside the vehicle’s glove box are stickers containing the VIN. Apply one of these stickers to the hang tag and install the hang tag in the vehicle. Pre-Owned Vehicles in Dealer Inventory To ensure customer satisfaction, GST requests that dealers complete this Noncompliance Recall on any used vehicles currently in dealer inventory that are covered by this Noncompliance Recall prior to customer delivery.
