Introduction
Some 2004 – 2008 model year Prius vehicles may exhibit a “squeak” type noise during vehicle startup or shutdown. This noise can be heard coming from the coolant heat storage water pump during cold ambient temperature conditions. Use the following procedure to address this condition only if the noise is confirmed to be coming from the coolant heat storage water pump.

- This repair is covered under the Toyota
Powertrain Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
- Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer’s specific complaint.

Repair Procedure
- After the noise is verified to be coming from the coolant heat storage water pump, replace it with a NEW part.
