Checking and Replacing the Air Conditioning Filter

The air conditioning filter may need to be replaced if the air flow of the air conditioner and heater experience reductions in operating efficiency, or if the windows begin to fog up easily.

To maintain air conditioning efficiency, inspect and replace the air conditioning filter every 30,000 miles or 36 months. In dusty areas or areas with heavy traffic flow, more frequent replacement may be required.

Repair Procedure

  1. Turn off the engine before removing the air conditioning filter.
Open the glove box, and slide off the damper as shown.

When installing the filter into the filter case, ensure that the flat side of the filter is down and the ribbed side is up. Position the filter case so that the “UP” mark is pointing up and install it in the vehicle.

NOTE

The air filter should be installed in it’s proper position. The use of air conditioning with the air filter removed may cause deteriorated air conditioning performance.
