The recall population was determined by searching SET’s data base for 2022 Toyota 4Runner vehicles with SET installed accessory fog lights. The recall population consists of only of 2022 Toyota 4Runner vehicles that had SET installed accessory fog lights. Production Dates : SEP 20, 2021 – OCT 08, 2021 VIN Range 1 : Begin : NR End : NR Not sequential Description of Noncompliance : Description of the Noncompliance : Pursuant to FMVSS 108 at least two high-beam lamps are required to be supplied in a light-duty vehicle. Due to a wiring harness misapplication, when the SET supplied accessory fog lamps are installed, the driver side headlamp does not switch from low to high beam function when the high beam switch is activated. This condition does not affect the passenger side headlamp, or any of the vehicle’s marker lamps, turn signals or fog lamps. FMVSS 1 : 108 – Lamps, reflective devices, and assoc. The SET accessory fog light wiring harness was no longer compatible the 2022 headlamp wiring harness in that it was missing the circuit needed for operation of driver side headlamp in the high-beam mode. Address : NR NR Country : NR Chronology : In November 2021 during a routine inspection at SET’s processing facilities, SET identified a single 2022 Toyota 4Runner with an inoperative driver’s side high-beam headlamp. SET immediately initiated an investigation. In December, SET determined that the inoperative high beam headlamp was due to a change in the 2022 Toyota 4Runner head lamp wiring harness which was incompatible with the prior year’s SET accessory fog lamp wiring harness. On December 6th, 2021, SET determined that the condition created a noncompliance with FMVSS 108. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : At no cost to the customer, a Toyota dealer will install an updated wiring harness for the SET accessory fog lights. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The replacement accessory fog light wiring harness includes a circuit for the driver’s side head lamp high-beam light. Apply one of these stickers to the hang tag and install the hang tag in the vehicle. A sample copy of the Inspection Reminder Hang Tag has been included for your reference.
